Step 3 · Know Your Ports

🌴 Port-by-Port Guide

Each stop has its own personality. Use this guide to plan activities that fit your time in port and your budget.

🇲🇽 Cozumel, Mexico
9:00 AM – 6:00 PM · Beachy · Easygoing · Tourist-Friendly
☀️ Weather in December

Typically 78°–84°F, warm and sunny with a light Caribbean breeze — perfect for swimming and beach days.

🚖 Transportation & Budget

Taxis: usually $8–$20 each way depending on distance. Scooter rentals: about $35–$45 for the day. Stay within about 20–25 minutes of the pier and always agree on price before riding.

🍽️ Food & Drinks

Street tacos: $2–$4. Sit-down meals: $10–$18. Soft drinks & mocktails: $3–$5. Cocktails: around $6–$8+. Bring small USD bills for tipping and easy pay.

Cruise-Friendly Things to Do in Cozumel

  • Relax at a beach club like Paradise Beach or Playa Mia.
  • Snorkel at spots like Chankanaab or Playa Palancar.
  • Shop downtown San Miguel for tequila, vanilla, and souvenirs.
  • Enjoy a Mexican lunch with ocean views.
  • Book a guided island tour through Carnival for worry-free timing.
🇯🇲 Ocho Rios, Jamaica
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Lively · Tropical · Adventure-Ready
☀️ Weather in December

Expect warm tropical temps around 80°–87°F with humidity and lots of lush greenery. Light showers can pass quickly — pack a light poncho just in case.

🚖 Transportation & Safety

Licensed taxis typically range from $20–$40 depending on distance and number of guests. Stay with approved drivers or guided tours and keep travel time within 30 minutes from port unless you are with a reputable local guide (like Christopher).

🍗 Food & Vibe

Jerk chicken plates: $8–$12. Patties: $3–$4. Rum punch & cocktails: $5–$10. Expect lively energy, reggae, and friendly but persistent vendors — a simple “No, thank you” works fine.

Top Activities That Fit Cruise Time

  • Climb or view the famous Dunn’s River Falls.
  • Swim and jump at the stunning Blue Hole.
  • Float through the jungle on bamboo rafts or river tubes.
  • Ride ATVs, try zip lining, or go horseback riding on trails.

🇰🇾 Grand Cayman
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM · Clean · Upscale · Relaxed
☀️ Weather in December

Gorgeous, clear days around 78°–85°F. The water is calm and crystal blue — ideal for beach time and snorkeling.

⛴️ Tender Port

Grand Cayman uses tenders (small boats) to shuttle guests from ship to shore. Allow extra time to get on an early tender if you have a morning excursion.

Step 4 · Getting There

✈️ Miami Arrival & Embarkation Day

A smooth start sets the tone for your whole cruise. Use these guidelines to plan your arrival into Miami and boarding day.

Recommended Arrival Time

  • Plan to be in Miami no later than late morning on embarkation day.
  • Do not schedule flights that land too close to your boarding time — allow several hours buffer.
  • Arrive at the port about 30 minutes before your chosen check-in window.

Transportation to the Port

  • Uber/Lyft: common and convenient; typical fares range around $20–$28 depending on traffic.
  • Hotel Shuttles: some pre-cruise hotels offer shuttle service to the port — check with your property.
  • Driving: parking garages are available near the port, with daily rates usually between $10–$25 per day.

What to Pack in Your Carry-On

  • Passports or birth certificates and photo IDs.
  • Medications and health essentials.
  • Chargers, headphones, and small electronics.
  • Swimwear and a change of clothes if you want to enjoy the pool early.
  • Any valuables you do not want in checked luggage.

What Embarkation Day Looks Like

  • Drop off checked luggage with porters outside the terminal (have small bills for tipping).
  • Go through security and check-in with your boarding pass and ID.
  • Optional embarkation photo.
  • Board the ship, grab lunch, and explore. Cabins typically open early afternoon.
  • Mandatory safety drill information will be provided — follow all instructions.
Step 5 · Heading Home

🛄 Debarkation Day Tips

The last morning is all about breakfast, photos, and smooth goodbyes. A little planning makes leaving just as easy as arriving.

Morning of Debarkation

  • Have your suitcase packed and outside your cabin by the time indicated on your last-night instructions (if you use valet luggage).
  • Enjoy breakfast in the dining room or buffet while your group is called.
  • Keep passports/IDs and customs forms accessible — you will need them several times.

Flights & Ground Transport

  • For smoother travel, schedule flights for 11:30 AM or later on debarkation day.
  • Once off the ship and through customs, taxis and rideshares are available at the terminal exits.
